Two shot dead by ex-soldier in land dispute with relatives
VIJAYAWADA: Two persons were killed and another seriously injured in a firing by an ex-serviceman at Rayavaram village in Macherla Mandal of Guntur district on Sunday.
According to the police, ex-serviceman Matta Sambasiva Rao had a dispute about farmlands in the village with relatives Matta Balakrishna and Matta Siva. Samba entered into an altercation with the two and warned them against entering into the disputed farmland, saying it belonged to him.
The matter turned serious as another person, Anjaneyulu, came to the spot and tried to mediate. An angry Samba warned he would kill them if they did not leave his farmland. Then he fired a few rounds from his gun. Siva, Balakrishna and Anjanenyulu were severely injured. Balakrishna and Siva died while they were being shifted to the hospital.
The locals called the police in. Sambasiva Rao managed to flee from the spot.
The police shifted the injured Anjaneyulu to Macherla hospital but his condition deteriorated. Police later took him to GGH at Guntur. The police said a case has been registered and a search started to nab the accused.
