Second tranche of Jagananna Chedodu in October
Vijayawada: AP government is gearing up to release the second tranche of Jagananna Chedodu scheme directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries in October 2021. The scheme is aimed to raise the living standards of Nayee Brahmins, Rajakas and tailors among backward classes, who depend on traditional caste occupations for their livelihood.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been providing financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per annum to these communities through Jagananna Chedodu.
Officials said the assistance will be useful to these communities for purchase of professional tools and as petty cash. The scheme had been thought of by the Chief Minister “for the great people who have been serving people around them for centuries, believing only in their sweat”.
Under the scheme, Rs 247.04 crore is credited into the accounts of 2,47,040 beneficiaries as first instalment. Of this, Rs 82.34 crore is provided at the rate of Rs 10,000 to each of eligible 82,347 Rajakas, Rs 38.76 crore to 38,767 Nayee Brahmins and Rs 125.92 crore to 1,25,926 tailors. In case these beneficiaries have taken any loans in the past, the government has advised bankers not to consider this amount under that account. It must be deposited in an unencumbered bank account.
Officials said if the scheme is not reaching the deserved or eligible, they can go to their village / ward secretariats and hand over relevant documents for getting the Jagananna Chedodu amount.
Incidentally, tailors coming under the scheme had been given orders to sew three pairs of uniforms, which are being provided to millions of students. This has benefited the tailors financially.
