Mini vans flout RTA rules

A Road Transport Authority official said that surprise raids were conducted across the city in all the zones.

Hyderabad: Mini vans continue to transport schoolchildren illegally. In special raids, the Road Transport Authority on Thursday booked about 28 cases. Autorickshaws and mini-vans were booked for lack of fitness certificates and carrying children without permission.

Out of the 28 cases booked, 26 vehicles were seized. The highest number of cases, 12, were booked in the south zone, which comprises the Old City, followed by the central zone where seven vehicles were seized.

A Road Transport Authority official said that surprise raids were conducted across the city in all the zones.

Most of the violations that were found include, lack of permit and fitness certificate by the three wheelers and the vans.
