14 years on, ORR oustees get land

The land was allotted on lottery basis for owners who lost their land.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority on Thursday distributed 181 plots in a 68.35 acre layout in Thimmai-pally in Kesara mandal for farmers who lost their land to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project 14 years ago.

The land was provided as part of their resettlement and rehabilitation, Authorities ensured free registration for the farmers. Land has been allocated in Survey Nos. 73 and 87 of Thimmaipally.

The HMDA took up the construction of the ORR in 2005 and during phase I acquired 750 acres of land, out which about 500 acres belonged to individuals. During the second phase, the authority acquired another 5,500 acres, out of which 1,000 acres belonged to the government.

The HMDA had agreed on land for land deal and had assured the villagers that it would develop several layouts at several locations and hand over the same to the project affected families (PAF) who lost their land.
