Non-governmental organisations wants state to ensure compensation
The compensation of Rs 20 lakh is stated to be too less while the US citizens have been paid much higher damages.

Hyderabad: Compensation by Johnson and Johnson must be ensured by the government, demanded All India Drug Action Network, which is a consortium of non-governmental organisations working to increase access and improve the rational use of essential medicines.
The query being raised in various medical circles is that when the device was withdrawn from the United States and European countries why was the same not done for India.
There are 3,600 missing patients with faulty hip implant and according to sources in the medical device industry, hospitals and the company are hand-in-glove in not providing the details to the government. The central government has set up a committee to look into the issue and are planning to post advertisements and try and reach out to these patients through social media as their data is not available to them.
The All India Drug Action Network in a statement stated that the company must be criminally prosecuted and the patients and their families must be compensated for harm, prolonged suffering and death. The compensation of Rs 20 lakh is stated to be too less while the US citizens have been paid much higher damages.
