Bickering in TRS over tickets

Disgruntled leaders hold private meets, warn high command of defeat.

Hyderabad: Ahead of the ruling TRS party announcing its candidates in several constituencies in the run-up to the Assembly elections, dissident leaders have been expressing their dissatisfaction against sitting MLAs.

Chief Minister and TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao recently announced that except three or four, all remaining MLAs would be given tickets for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

After this statement, dissident leaders in several constituencies are conducting meetings against sitting MLAs. They have warned the leadership that if the sitting MLAs are given tickets, they will defeat them in the elections.

In Vemulawada constituency, about 1000 TRS workers and leaders held a meeting against sitting MLA Ch Ramesh Babu. They said if Mr Babu was given a ticket, it would be the first seat that the TRS would lose. They have decided to write a letter to Mr Rao on this issue.

In Ramagundam constituency, dissident leaders under the leadership of former mayor Lakshminarayana held a meeting against sitting MLA Somarapu Satyan-arayana and warned if he was given a ticket again they would defeat him.

TRS leaders are conducting meetings in the districts to discuss the mobilization of people to Pragathi Nivedana Sabha to be held on September 2 at Hyderabad. Local dissident leaders are utilizing these meetings to express their annoyance against sitting MLAs.

In Devarakonda, in Nalgonda district, TRS leaders held a meeting but Zilla Parishad Chairman Balunaik did not attend. The TRS leadership made Shankara-mma the in-charge of Huzurnagar Assembly constituency represented by TPCC Chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. TRS leaders in this constituency are divided into two groups under Shanka-ramma and Siva Reddy.

While these two groups were fighting for the Huzurnagar ticket, N.T.R. Saidireddy announced that the ticket would be given to him. In Choppadandi also, TRS leaders are divided into two groups under sitting MLA B. Shobha and Chukkareddy.

With MLAs defecting before the polls, several constituencies are facing the same problem. Senior TRS leaders are putting pressure on the leadership to give tickets to all sitting MLAs and select candidates wisely.
