Bengaluru: Demolition of Jayadeva flyover the only way

We have no option but to demolish the flyover as it has both the flyover and underpass at that junction.

Bengaluru: The BMRCL technical team has said that the demolition of Jayadeva flyover is the only way to build the Metro interchange station on the RV Road-Bommasandra line (Reach 5). Because of the delay in demolishing the flyover, the contractor has lost four to five months as he has not been able to take up subsequent works.

The tenders were awarded in three packages last July. The contractor for RV Road-HSR Layout package is yet to complete the road widening work. A source said that BMRCL is ready to start Jayadeva flyover demolition work after the road widening project is completed and heavy vehicles, including BMTC buses and other public vehicles, will be diverted on alternative routes after taking the opinion of the traffic police.

“We have no option but to demolish the flyover as it has both the flyover and underpass at that junction. That station is very important for Phase 2 as it will be the interchange,” a BMRCL senior official told Deccan Chronicle.

The BMRCL has met the joint action committee, which includes 10 residents welfare association of BTM Layout and Kormangala. The meeting also discussed the proposed elevated road-cum rail flyover from the Silk Board Junction to Ragigudda and RV Road to Bommasandra.
