Hyderabad: Nature decided to side with actress Lakshmi Manchu’s tweet following the helplessness of government officials who tried to take down an arch leading to a Ganesh Chaturthi Pandal after the Pandal Samithi refused to let it be taken down. The heavy rains that took Hyderabad by surprise during the beginning of Ganesh Chaturthi festival led to the collapse of the arch.
Lakshmi’s popular tweet about the extravagance of Ganesh Chaturthi Pandals caught the eyes of the public and government officials. The arch which was obstructing traffic on a road in Filmnagar was asked to be checked by the traffic police.
However, when GHMC officials went to take it down the pandal samithi opposed it saying that it was a once in a year affair. Traffic DCP L. Chauhan said, “The arch had been causing traffic congestion and top officials had asked municipal authorities to look into the complaints.”
