Release aid early: Shia community to K Chandrashekar Rao
Hyderabad: The All India Shia Organisation has asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to direct the administration to repair, clean and white wash ashoorkhanas ahead of Moharram. scheduled to begin on October 3. The organisation wants the government to sensitise the minority welfare department to ensure that basic cleaning works are carried out.
AISO president Mir Hadi Ali said the state had 11,000 ashoorkhana, most of them under the Wakf Board. The keys to the main chamber was with the the government and the ashoorkhanas had to be opened for 40 days of Moharram. “We want them to get the cleaning works done in advance so that enough facilities created,” he said.
Since last two years, community members and non-government organisations have been carrying out major cleaning works and white washing the ashoorkhanas.
Mr Hadi Ali said the government releases money for the ashoorkhanas only five days before Moharram and the work is carried out in a haphazard manner. “Hence this year we are raising our voice in advance so that the government and can take the necessary steps in time.”
AISO member M. Hussain said youths were getting involved in the process as awareness was created. But ashoorkhanas in the districts could use the funds.
