Rain guns to rescue withering crops in Anantapur
Anantapur: The district administration has deputed IAS and Group 1 officers as special officers to help save the groundnut crop.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who had initiated steps to save crops due to deficit rainfall is experimenting with rain guns in Rayalaseema.
Eleven 11 IAS officers and 31 deputy collectors were deputed to Anantapur district to examine the situation. Except Tadipatri, IAS officers were deputed at all other constituencies that had cultivated groundnut.
S. Murali, Sridhan, Rekharani, Vinay Chand, Rama Rao, Nagalakshmi, Vijaya, Dinesh Kumar, Chakradhara Babu, Vijayarama Raju and Shan Mohan were among the team deputed for the job.
Agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao, who reviewed the situation with the special officers and other ministers, said more than 12,000 rain guns were supplied to Rayalaseema districts to rescue withering crops.
The CM is committed to save crops and not even a single acre should get withered.
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would stay for two days in Anantapur to monitor the situation,” the minister said.
Naidu would tour in Dharmavaram and Penukonda segments.
A technical wing led by DRO Malleswari would monitor situation at Revenue Bhavan in Anantapur collectorate campus.
Anantapur in-charge collector B. Lakshmi Kantham said 14 computers and printers were set up at the technical wing and a round-the-clock helpline would be on to receive grievances from the farmers about crop position.
Kurnool collector Vijayamohan assured farmers to divert water towards KC canal to save existing crops.
