KPCL launches weekly mainline service to China
Nellore: Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal has introduced a weekly mainline service from Krishnapatnam to China on Monday. Mr Franck Dedenis, MD, Maersk Line, India inaugurated the service during a colourful function.
With the introduction of the direct service to China, KPCT has established direct connectivity to Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. It may be recalled that KPCT already launched direct cargo services to Sri Lanka, Oman, UAE and Myanmar. In all Krishnapatnam Port has been transporting cargo to as many as 350 ports across the world including the US, Europe, North America, South America, Middle East and Russia.
According to Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd CEO Anil Yendluri, the weekly service to China will provide fastest and most competitive service to the exporters/ importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of China, East Asia and South East Asia.
Maersk Line already operates a weekly container service to Salalah from KPCT. The weekly mainline China service is operated by Maersk Line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea.
The service has been commenced in response to strong representation from exporters of cotton, minerals, chillies and granite to eastern destinations. The service calls direct at the ports of Shanghai, Qingdao, Nansha, Xingagang, Busan and Singapore.
Furniture, office interiors and hotel interiors and fittings is a huge volume of import from China to AP, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Krishnapatnam Port hosted two furniture meets in China - at Foshan and Lecong in August 2016, when the furniture suppliers and traders in China requested a weekly service to KPCT. The service will also provide the fastest transit for the import of solar panels for solar park operators in AP.
The transit time for Shanghai to KPCT is 15 days and KPCT is the closest port to all the solar parks in AP and TS.
