Bengaluru: A shocking incident of a gang of five criminal eve-teasers attacking a brave boy with machete, iron rod and other lethal weapons was reported in the Madiwala police station limits on Sunday night.

The braveheart, Akhilesh Bharadwaj, is a 24-year-old Swiggy executive from Delhi.

Even more shocking is the fact that the incident occurred just 25 metres from the Madiwala police station, and also none of the passersby intervened or warned the boys against eve-teasing that went on for a long time. People did not even intervene when the gang attacked Akhilesh.

Bharadwaj recounted the horror to DC. “I came to the Madiwala Masjid bus-stop at 8 pm and stood there waiting for a bus. I saw one man heavily drunk with another man at the stop. The bus stop was crowded. As soon as they saw girls coming out of the buses, they passed lewd comments. They became even more aggressive when they saw younger girls. None of those people, who were waiting for buses and were in large numbers, protested. The miscreants stood in front of any girl who came out of the bus and stopped them. The miscreants even touched them. After blocking their way, one of the miscreants opened his shirt and bared his chest. I come from Delhi. I couldn’t control myself and confronted them. ‘Bhai kya kar rahe ho. Battameezi mat karo,’ I said. As soon as I confronted them, three people who were behind me took out a dagger, a rod and a machete and attacked me. They punched in the eye, which has turned dark. When they came to hit on my head, I dodged it. Another hit me with a rod and I pushed them.

“Akhilesh said there were only five men teasing girls and women of all ages. The incident happened just a few metres away from the police station. If all the people at the bus-stop had collectively came out against the teasers, they would have run away,” he said.

Later, Akhilesh went to the police station and filed a complaint. The Madiwala police have registered a case under IPC Sections 143, 147, 323, 149 and 324. The investigation is on.
