Vikarabad: Poverty drives couple to death
Hyderabad: Depressed due to alleged financial crunch, a newly-wed couple reportedly ended their lives by hanging to a tree in an agricultural field located on the outskirts of Pudur village in Vikarabad district on Saturday night.
Police said that the couple did not leave any note, but their family expressed the suspicion of the couple’s inability to meet their expenses could have driven them to take the extreme step.
Dappu Mallesh, 21, and Jyothi,19, were in love for a year. Mallesh was working as an agriculture labourer. They convinced their elders and got married in a temple about four months ago. After marriage, they were living with Mallesh’s family at Pudur. He opened a puncture shop at Parigi, while Jyothi started working as an labourer.
On Saturday, at 7.30 pm, Mallesh’s family members got suspicious as neither he nor Jyothi had returned from work. While searching at the farm, they found the couple hanging to a tree with a cloth. They immediately informed Jyothi’s parents, and then alerted the police.
The police said, “The couple married with their elder’s consent at Bugga Rameshwaram temple in Shabad mandal four months ago. Their family members said that the couple wanted to lead a happy life, but could not earn much, and that would have forced them to take the extreme step.”
Responding to a query, the officials said, “They did not leave any note, nor shared any issues with their family members. Jyothi’s parents also did not suspect anyone in their death, but their poor financial condition,”the police said.
