Floods: Ramesh Chennithala slams Pinarayi Vijayan
Alappuzha: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday asked CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan why he was so upset with the CBI filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court arguing all accused including chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan should stand trial in the SNC-Lavalin corruption case.
Speaking to reporters while visiting flood-hit areas of Kuttanad here, Mr Chennithala said the new move of the CBI should not be seen as politically motivated.
"The current stand of CBI vindicates the earlier allegations, and the chief minister should make his position clear,'" he said.
The CBI had on Saturday submitted in an affidavit in the apex court that all the accused in the Rs 375 crore scam should stand trial.
Slamming the chief minister for not visiting flood-hit Kuttanad, Mr Chennithala said that the flood-affected people wanted him to visit them "for not seeing his face, but they hope he will understand their problems and address them without delay."
"The stand of the chief minister that he should not visit the affected places is not right. He's considering the people's demand as an offence," he said.
"It's the responsibility of the PWD minister G. Sudhakaran, (who is in charge of Alappuzha district,) to persuade him to visit flood-hit areas."
