Magistrate in Andhra Pradesh questions curbs

The restrictions were affecting agricultural labourers, workers and professionals from going about their life.

KAKINADA: Prathipadu munsiff magistrate Sravan Kumar served notice on collector Karthikeyan Mishra and SP Vishal Gunni for imposing restrictions on the free movement of people in the backdrop of the proposed padayatra of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

He said that their actions were contempt of Supreme Court judgements and Constitutional provisions.

He told mediapersons at Prathipadu that the government had no right to infringe upon the freedom of the people. The restrictions were affecting agricultural labourers, workers and professionals from going about their life.

The magistrate, who also heads the mandal legal literacy mission, had previously issued notices to private school managements to allocate seats with free in corporate and private schools to poor students.
