MP: Man dies' of snake-bite, wakes up at funeral-pyre only to die again
New Delhi: A 23-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh, who was presumed dead of snake bite, woke up in his funeral pyre only to de declared dead for a second time, after ‘treatments’ by the tantrik he was taken to, failed.
According to reports, Sandeep, from Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, was collecting wood from a nearby forest when he was attacked by a snake. On his return, he was taken to by his family to a tantrik for treatment. The tantrik’s treatment proved ineffective and he was soon declared dead, which was followed by hectic preparations for his funeral.
Sandeep’s ‘body’ was taken to the local cemetery and his funeral pyre was lit, but mourners were in for complete shock when he woke up screaming as the tongues of flame licked his body.
Instead of taking Sandeep to a hospital, his family members took him to the same tantrik for a second time who proved incompetent to treat the snake bite yet again.
He was not as lucky this time, and succumbed to the venom.
His body was taken to the district hospital for post-mortem, and was later cremated.
