Farmer's Suicide Note Leads to Controversy

Anantapur: A farmer's suicide note blaming Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Kadapa district revenue officials for his death has led to a controversy.

The farmer, Subba Reddy, from Tudumulapalli in Khazipet mandal of Kadapa district consumed pesticide in his fields on outskirts of the village on Thursday night and died.

With Subba Reddy leaving a suicide note holding CM responsible for his death, the area revenue divisional officer (RDO) released a statement saying the farmer had 1.54 acres in the name of his parents. But he could not get the land registered in his name as other family members had not given their consent.

The RDO said revenue officials advised the farmer on June 13 to apply in Mee Seva with consent of all other family members. But Subba Reddy has not completed this documentation so far. The official pointed out that the farmer had also cultivated cotton on 10 acres of leased land.

The RDO ruled out the role of revenue staff in the suicide, though he promised to do justice to the bereaved family.
