AP to disburse ₹1,735 crore to 62.99 lakh persons under YSR Pension Kanuka

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is getting ready to disburse ₹1,735.36 crore under the YSR Pension Kanuka to benefit as many as 62.99 lakh pensioners. The disbursal will take place from July 1 to 5.

Deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu said in a statement here on Friday that, based on directions from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, they have geared up the state administration to start disbursal of pension amount to pensioners at their doorsteps from the early hours of July 1.

He said the state government had already released the amount to the village/ward secretariats so that the volunteers would reach out to the pensioners and deliver the amount. “We are going to rope in 2.66 lakh volunteers for disbursal of pension in addition to 15,000 welfare education assistants/ward welfare development secretaries.”

The deputy CM said the pension would be disbursed by taking the biometric authentication of the pensioner, IRIS authentication, Aadhaar-based facial authentication, real-time identification of beneficiary system-pension facial authentication.

Maintaining that the government has taken up all requisite measures to ensure that all the pensioners get their pension delivered at their doorsteps without any hassles, he said the entire exercise would be monitored via district-level call centres in DRDA offices.

“We have issued instructions to the volunteers to complete the disbursal of pension in five days, carefully, and by giving no scope for complaints like technical reasons.”

The state government is providing pension to 18 categories of pensioners including the old- age people, widows, the disabled, single women, weavers, DMHO, fishermen, dappu artists, traditional cobblers, toddy tappers, those taking antiretroviral therapy, Abhayahastam, CKDU-private, CKDU- government, Amaravati’s landless poor, artists, transgenders and Sainiks.
