Bengaluru: Criticising the Central government for its inaction in stopping increasing number of lynching of Muslims and Dalits, a group of social activists protested near Town Hall here on Saturday and demanded that the central government intervene and take concrete steps.
Condemning the recent killing of Tabrez Ansari (24) in Jharkhand by a mob, which tied him up to a pole and beat him up for allegedly not chanting 'Jai Sri Ram', the protesters said that it's high time the Central government intervened and passed a law against such murders in the name of religion and food habit.
The lynching started over cow and now they are being carried out in the name of gods.
It’s a shame and blot on a democratic country like India, the protesters said.
They questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence over lynching. “Modi talked about the rights of Muslim women before the election. Why is he silent on same women becoming widows after their husbands are killed in the name of religion and food habits," the protesters questioned.
