Hyderabad: Retired doctors want state to reinstate them till 65 years
Hyderabad: The High Court has issued notice to the Union human resources development ministry, the TS government, University Grants Commission, KNR University of Health Sciences and the Medical Council of India to respond to a petition filed by retired doctors over their superannuation.
The doctors had challenged the prospective application of the government ordinance enhancing the age of superannuation of medical teachers to 65 years.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther was dealing with a petition by Dr S. Jayaprakash Rao and 23 medical professors who retired before June 19. They said they were entitled to be in service up to age 65 by the UGC Regulations 2009 and 2010, which the government adopted in 2010.
