Adilabad: With their morale boosted after winning the Adilabad MP seat, the BJP is now focusing on winning the municipal chairman posts.
The BJP performed well in Khanapur, Mudhole, and Adilabad Assembly constituencies in the Assembly elections.
The BJP party state leadership is now focusing on Nirmal, Mudhole and Adilabad municipalities; these towns are considered as communally sensitive towns.
BJP candidate Soyam Bapurao won the Adilabad MP seat despite the TRS having its MLAs in all the seven Assembly constituencies.
BJP candidate Payal Shankar got 47,444 votes and stood second in Adilabad while Rama Devi of the BJP got 40,602 in Mudhole and secured second place too. Swarna Reddy who contested from Nirmal got 16,900 and stood third in the Assembly elections held recently.
The performance of the BJP has improved a lot in Adilabad in the Lok Sabha elections.

Incidentally, Muslim voters are considerable in number in Nirmal, Mudhole and Adilabad municipalities.
The news making the rounds in political circles is that in the municipal elections, there would be a tough fight between BJP and TRS in Adilabad, Nirmal and Mudhole. It is also being said that political parties may resort to polarising the people by raising certain issues to get the upper hand.
In united Adilabad district, the number of communal sensitive areas and towns are increasing and political parties are taking advantage of the sensitivity of the area to win the elections.
