300 km roads upkeep to be done by 'Road Development Corporation': K T Rama Rao

The minister reviewed the GHMC's plans for better maintenance of the roads.

Hyderabad: Nearly 300 km of roads will be handed over to the Road Development Corporation, a special purpose vehicle formed for maintenance of roads, minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Thursday. The GHMC has been directed to issue orders for administrative sanction of handing over the roads.

The minister reviewed the GHMC’s plans for better maintenance of the roads. The GHMC has been asked to focus on road repair and restoration, keeping in mind the monsoon.

“All roads should be divided into grids and one engineer should be allotted to each grid. Every day, the engineer should monitor the roads for three to four hours and take up restoration works, if required immediately, the minister said.

Mr Rama Rao suggested that GHMC authorities conduct a workshop for engineers for better implementation of the plans.
