Citizens too have duties: Swathi's sister
Chennai: While DMK chief Karunanidhi on Wednesday had squarely blamed the police for the murder of Infosys staff Swathi at Nungambakkam railway station, the victim’s sister posted on her Facebook account that “not only the government but the citizens too have a duty of protecting themselves and others”.
“I want the public to remember that it isn’t only the responsibility of the government or the officials’ duties to safeguard the country and the citizens. It is each one of our responsibility to take care of ourselves, others and the country. Together we can achieve a lot” says Swathi’s elder sister Nithya Goapalakrishnan in her FB post. “It would be great if people can stop speculating and start praying for her. Let us not unnecessarily tarnish the image and the character of the unfortunate departed soul,” she further said in her post.”
“She is very attached to the family, both direct and extended. Her friend’s circle is very limited and doesn’t entertain any unnecessary drama. Having said that, it’s really shocking to see the speculation about her in any way. I also request public not to create any new posts in her name or for her as it might add to the existing speculation and confusion with regard to the case”, Nithya noted.
“She is such a childish, soft-spoken, God fearing, semi traditional, bubbly and poised girl. For some unknown reason none came to her rescue, let this pass. Going forward let us take an oath in our own little way to help one another”, she concluded.
