Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai has found a 'golden opportunity' in the comment posted by Congress leader A. P. Abdullakutty on the Facebook praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The party will welcome him if he is keen to join it," Pillai said on Wednesday. It is said that Abdullakutty is trying to contest the Manjeshwaram by-election on a BJP ticket.
KPCC president Mullappally R-amachandran had appointed a sub-committee on Tuesday to probe Abdullakutty's post. But Abdullakutty has not bothered to delete the post or correct his stand. Former KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran told DC that Abdullakutty was knocking at the door of the BJP.
"Even Modi must have been jolted by Abdullakutty's statement that Modi is practising Gandhian values. Abdullakutty was admitted to the Congress immediately after his MP tenure ended and offered the Kannur legislator's seat when there were several seniors in the party," he said.
Abdullakutty's F-acebook post was brought to the notice of Mullapally by Kannur DCC. The BJP state leadership has not yet commented on admitting him to the party. A BJP source told DC that he may not be taken due to his wavering stand. He had earlier praised Modi's Gujarat model of development....
