Kerala CM to inaugurate Water summit in Thiruvananthapuram today

The summit will showcase successful models in water conservation across the country and within the state and address sustainability challenges.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Haritha Keralam Mission is organising ‘Jalasangamam,’ Kerala water summit 2019, as part of its river rejuvenation- forest conservation activities at Tagore Theatre, Vazhuthacaud, here from Wednesday to Friday.

Minister of Local Self-Government A.C. Moideen on Wednesday inaugurated an exhibition consisting of some 20 stalls by Haritha Keralam Mission, irrigation, soil survey and soil conservation departments, land use board, St. Teresa’s college etc.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the summit on Thursday. Parallel seminars attended by experts will discuss the water conservation activities done across Kerala and the field visits to various regions. The summit will showcase successful models in water conservation across the country and within the state and address sustainability challenges.

The seminar themes will be river rejuvenation and sustainability challenges, local water resources for water security plan, city river network and grey water management.
