Jagan Mohan Reddy likely to make key announcements

Further, he will announce the route map for the implementation of the Navaratnalu as announced in the election manifesto.

Hyderabad: After taking his oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday at 12.23 pm, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to make some significant announcements.

Considering the state’s financial standing, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy will probably announce cost-cutting measures first, taking his salary into account as well.

While the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is prescribed to receive around `4 lakh per month, including travel and other allowances, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to announce a monthly salary of `1 for himself. His father and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao was also drawing just `1 as salary from the state.

As part of reforms in the tender system, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to announce the setting up of a judicial commission headed by a High Court judge. The purpose of this commission will be to assess tenders before awarding clearance.

Further, he will announce the route map for the implementation of the Navaratnalu as announced in the election manifesto. The Navaratnalu includes Arogyasri, YSR Rythu Bharosa, fee reimbursement, liquor ban, Jalayajnam, Ammavodi, YSR Cheyutha and pension enhancement.

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy will constitute his cabinet on June 7, and the first Assembly session will be held on June 11 and June 12. This session will be restricted to oath-taking by the newly elected MLAs and the election of the Assembly Speaker.
