Hyderabad: Yemeni commits suicide after wife’s death

Mohammed Otman Ali reportedly left a note stating that he cannot live without his wife, and wanted to meet her in heaven.

Hyderabad: Unable to bear the agony of his wife’s death due to cancer, and with his visa due to expire, a 24-year-old Yemeni national committed suicide by hanging on Tuesday night when alone in his house in Paramount colony. Mohammed Otman Ali reportedly left a note stating that he cannot live without his wife, and wanted to meet her in heaven.

The police have booked a case of suspicious death and handed over the body to his cousin, who also lives in the city. Mohammed Otman Ali and his cousin Mubqoth Hassan had come to India on student visas.

On Tuesday, Mr Hassan went to work and when he returned in the evening he found that Mohammed Ali had locked himself in the house and would not respond to his calls. With the help of neighbours, he broke open the door and found Ali hanging from the ceiling, and alerted the police.
