Hyderabad: A 42-year-old man, who was working inside a lift shaft, died on Tuesday late night after a lift fell on him. Police has booked a case against the residential association of the apartment in Malkajgiri for improper maintenance of the lift that resulted in the death of the man.
According to Malkajgiri police, D. Shankaraiah, a resident of Malkajgiri, was working inside a lift shaft at Varun Towers Apartment in Vaninagar on Tuesday night. At around 8.45 pm, the lift suddenly fell from fifth floor, critically injuring him. He was rushed to the Gandhi Hospital, where he succumbed.
Following a complaint from his family members, a case has been registered against the residential welfare association under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code, for causing death due to the negligence and investigation has been taken up, said the police.
