GHmc finally wakes up for 2nd hitec RuB
Hyderabad: Commuters travelling regularly via the Road under Bridge (RuB) near Hitec City MMTS station, especially during busy hours, are irked by the constant traffic jam along the road that connects with the RuB.
As part of the solution to this concern, the GHMC has commenced the construction of another RuB adjacent to it.
Irked by the traffic menace, one C. Vijay Narayana, a daily commuter, said, “It takes at least 45-60 minutes to cross the RuB during peak hours. It’s been five years since they announced the construction of the second RuB, yet I see no progress thus far. Now, after countless inspections, the GHMC staff finally seem to have started the work. This delay clearly indicates the nonchalant attitude of GHMC’s town planning officials towards even the most urgent public issues.”
“Besides, what’s being used as an RuB at present is essentially an emergency water outlet which was constructed during the era of the Nizam to prevent water from overflowing on to the railway lines. We can clearly tell that the RuB is a lot less wide than it’s supposed to be,” the commuter added.
It’s been around one year since the GHMC invited tenders to construct an RuB near the existing passage at an estimated cost of `59 crore. The intent of this new construction was to enable a hassle-free passage for commuters at Hitech City station. Unfortunately, the proposal stood unattended owing to a reported fund crunch.
