Hyderabad: Cops keep traffic in check this year

The DCP has further appealed shoppers to cooperate with the police in facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.

Hyderabad: The flow of vehicular traffic in the Old City area during Ramzan this year has been fairly smooth as a result of the constant monitoring of hawkers and adequate parking provisions near the Charminar area.

In an effort to ease the flow of traffic between Madina Circle and Gulzar Houz, hawkers have been prohibited from installing their carts in two rows along the stretch.

Further, traffic police have been commissioned especially to move hawkers back to the spots allotted to them in case they attempt to jump territories, and a towing van has been engaged on patrol duty to eliminate any hurdles that could disrupt the flow of traffic.

In addition to the above, free parking arrangements have been provided for shoppers in different areas like the QQSUDA Stadium, Mufid ul Anaam School ground, Old Pension Office ground, Khilwat ground, and Charminar Bus Stand ground.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic II) Mr Babu Rao said, “Friday onwards until the end of Ramzan, traffic will not be allowed to enter from Madina Circle. We have deployed 2 inspectors, 4 sub-inspectors, and 20 constables on duty at the night bazaars in the Old City.” The DCP has further appealed shoppers to cooperate with the police in facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.

He also stressed that shoppers must park their vehicles in the parking spaces assigned to them as parking vehicles on the road can aggravate the traffic situation.
