Chennai: Rival parties’ cadres clash at Tambaram taluk office

However, the AIADMK members were not invited to the meeting.

Chennai: Tension prevailed in Tambaram on Wednesday morning following a clash between cadres of AIADMK and the DMK at the Taluk revenue office during Jamabandhi meeting.

According to sources, the Jamabandhi meeting headed by Tambaram Revenue divisional officer Rajkumar was held at the Tambaram Taluk office in Chennai and the DMK M.L.A, S.R Raja, was invited to the meeting. However, the AIADMK members were not invited to the meeting. Coming to know of this, a team of AIADMK cadres headed by Tambaram town secretary M. Koothar allegedly entered the office and started arguing with the revenue officials and the DMK cadres during the meeting.

As the conflict between the two sides continued and the arguments between the cadres of rival parties became heated, a clash ensued. Even as the police tried to pacify them, the cadres attacked each other.

There were acts of vandalism also as chairs were thrown out. A team of police headed by Mount DC Muthukumar brought situation under control. The authorities then postponed the Jamabandhi.
