Hyderabad: Around 4 pm on Tuesday, a Military Engineering Services (MES) water pipeline at Bapuji Nagar in Bowenpally, has leaked and water rose 40 to 50 feet above the ground.
J. Maheshwar Reddy, Elected member, Ward 1, said, “Roadwork is going on, and MES staff, without the knowledge that road work was underway, started doing their routine pipeline check-up. As a result, when their work started, the water started gushing out suddenly.”
Commuters and passers-by stopped to stare at the sudden watery situation resulting in a traffic jam. The leakage continued for about half an hour before matters were brought under control. “There was a loss of 40,000 to 50,000 litres of water,” Reddy added.
P. Rajesh Kumar, a commuter said, "It was so difficult to ride on the road as bikes started skidding because of the water.” However the problem of pipeline was resolved by 4.40pm by the authorities.
