Uniqueness of the ritual is that every item used in yagam is in black colour.

In this ritual the rice cooked in Bamboo, the horse and ram and every material will be black in colour as the Homa (Homam in Telugu) invokes black clouds to shower good rains.

EO A.K. Singhal accompanied by his wife Jaya Singhal took the sankalpam for the Maha Yagam as "Sarvopadrastha". JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju also took part in this religious fete. Later the ritwiks who are performing this special yagam performed Varuna Japam in Swamy Pushkarini located at Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy temple. The Vedic scholars chanted Rishyasringa Mantram three times in holy waters of temple tank to appease Rain Lord Varuna.

Speaking to media, the EO said this five-day fete which has commenced on May 29 will conclude on June 2. "Apart from Vedic scholars rendering related mantras, Amrita Varshini Raagam which is prominently recited seeking good rains, will be performed by renowned artists on Naada Neerajana platform this time.
