Survey unwarranted, says K Jana Reddy

Mr Jana Reddy and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Shabbir Ali, addressed a news conference at the Assembly hall.

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, K. Jana Reddy has called the election survey released by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti “unwarranted” and “unethical”.

He said it is not proper for Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao to talk of elections and election prospects of various political parties when elections are still two years away.

Mr Jana Reddy and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Shabbir Ali, addressed a news conference at the Assembly hall on Monday. He said Telangana state is presently facing several problems, particularly on the farmers’ front, and it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister to attend to these issues. “Without doing your work, you cannot mislead or divert the attention of people by your survey reports. This is most unethical,” Mr Jana Reddy remarked.

He said the Chief Minister should concentrate on working for the welfare of people and development of the state, instead of politicising issues.

He said he is quite confident that people will return to the Congress party in the 2019 elections. Congress leaders are doing their job of exposing the government’s failures. “We have confidence in the wisdom of the common people that they will bring back Congress rule in the state, rather than believing your survey reports,” Mr Jana Reddy said.

Referring to the comments of veteran Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy about a possible tie-up with the Telugu Desam in Telangana state, Mr Jana Reddy said he respects the senior leader, but has his doubts that the media distorted Mr Reddy’s remarks. “As far as my reaction is concerned, this is not the time to think of alliances or tie-ups with any party, including the Telugu Desam,” Mr Jana Reddy said.
