A royal Janata Darshan at Karnataka Bhavan

Although she tried hard to meet the CM in Karnataka, she was never able to, she claims.

Bengaluru: How accessible is the Chief Minister in Karnataka? Not very, it appears, as giving up on meeting him in the state, a poor woman from a village in Gudibande taluk, Chikkaballapur district, journeyed all the way to Delhi to seek his help with a property matter.

The woman, Muniyamma, was looking for an alternative plot as the land she was allotted by the local authority in response to her application, was allegedly embroiled in a legal dispute and not available. Although she tried hard to meet the CM in Karnataka, she was never able to, she claims. "The CM is always busy whenever he is the state. It is very difficult to meet him," she rued. And so she decided the only option was to corner him in Delhi. Hearing that he was in the capital, she boarded a train and reached Delhi and the Karnataka Bhavan, where she finally got to meet Mr Siddaramaiah.

On hearing of her journey all the way from Chikkaballapur to Delhi, the Chief Minister was very moved and instructed Deputy Commissioner Deepti Kanade to give the issue top priority. He offered the woman food and accommodation at Karnataka Bhavan, a press statement from his office said. What's incredible is that the Chief Minister’s office only released his tour programme late on Saturday. Yet, she managed to book a train ride to Delhi and land there, in time to meet him Monday evening!
