Mosquito problem haunts residents of Loyola Gardens

The under-construction buildings and apartments in the area would be an attractive point for those who are willing to take a house for rent.

Vijayawada: The residents at the Loyola Gardens located near Vinayaka Theatre and the Loyola College in Vijayawada are facing mosquito problems due to some dilapidated buildings which were not demolished and vacant lands. The open drainage system also has been causing problems to the people in this colony.

The drains in the colony are frequently blocked because of the dried up waste generated by the trees and thrown away food waste by the vendors. Apart from that, the dilapidated buildings and the vacant lands in and around the colony became fertile land for mosquito breeding.

The under-construction buildings and apartments in the area would be an attractive point for those who are willing to take a house for rent. The local residents including K. Ramana, B. Sridhar and others said that though they are facing problems with the open drainage, the colony is otherwise very peaceful.

On the other hand, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner on various occasions said that they would construct 100 per cent underground drainage system in the city. The colony is one of the peaceful residential areas for residents in the city where plenty of greenery is available.

Though there are some small common problems like in any other area in the city, it is very suitable for above middle class people, especialy the state government employees who are planning to shift their families from Hyderabad to Vijayawada as the Secretariat and other offices are going to be shifted here soon.
