1 more body retrieved on Mount Everest
KOLKATA: With the formal closing down of the climb on Everest for the current season on Sunday by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee the bodies of two mountaineers — Goutam Ghosh and Paresh Nath are unlikely to reach Kolkata this year. Meanwhile, the body of Subhas Paul, another mountaineer in the same group, is likely to reach Kolkata on Tuesday.
“The body of Paresh Nath has already been traced and the Sherpas had managed to bring it down to camp 4. It is presently inside a tent at camp 4. But owing to the windy weather and heavy frost. it could not be brought down further. The Sherpas have been compelled to return to the base camp. The body of Goutam Ghosh is still officially untraced though a Sherpa had claimed that she had spotted Mr Ghosh’s body at an altitude of around 8,000m,” an officer said.
