SSLC results: Tirupur district students record 98.53 percentage

As many as 6,100 schools across the state recorded a 100% pass in the SSLC exams.

Chennai: Students in Tirupur district have come out with flying colours in class 1 0results announced by The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (TNGDE) on Monday with 98.53% of students have cleared the exam.

The girl students have outshined the boys in the examination this year too. Ninety seven per cent of the girls and 93.3% of boys have cleared the examination.

The overall pass percentage of the state increased by 0.8 per cent this year as compared to last year. More than 9.79 lakh regular students and 38,176 private candidates have appeared for the examination, which was conducted between March 14 and 29.

The overall pass percentage this year is 95.2%. A total of 5,456 government schools have registered 100 per cent pass percentage. Among the 4,816 specially-abled students, who appeared for the examination, 4,395 have cleared the examination. Out of the 152 prisoners who appeared for the examination 110 have passed.

Tirupur district has recorded the highest pass percentage with 98.53 %, followed by Ramanathapuram at 98.48% and Namakkal at 98.45%. Chennai district has improved to 94.2% this year from 93.8% last year and stood at 23rd place in the state.

In Chennai, girls have outshined boys with a pass percentage of 97.02%. Coimbatore district posted 96.44% pass percentage.

Subject wise, science recorded the highest pass percentage this year with 98.56 % of students clearing the examination, followed by English at 97.35 %, social science at 97.07 %, mathematics at 96.46 % and language at 96.12 %.

Students can apply for re-evaluation from May 2-4 through their respective schools. The re-evaluation fee is `305 for language papers and Rs.205 for other subjects. Supplementary exams will be held between June 14 -22, 2019 for those candidates who didn't clear the exam. Students can check the official TNGDE website for the supplementary exam timetable as well as details regarding the provisional mark sheet. These results do not include students who had appeared under CBSE, ICSE or IGCSE boards of education.

It may be noted that in the 10+2 examination result announced by the Directorate of Government Examinations on April 19, the students from Tirupur district topped the State with 95.37 per cent pass percentage followed by Erode with 95.23 per cent and Perambalur district by 95.15 per cent.
