Slight upswing in passes in Nilgiris district

In total, out of 7,957 students who took the examination, 7.660 students got through that made the district registering 96.27 percentage of passes.

Ooty: The Nilgiris district has recorded an impressive 96.27 percentage passes in the 10th class state board (SSLC) examinations, which is one per cent more that what was achieved in the district in 2018.

A release by the office of the Chief Educational Officer here, said that out of 3,890 boys who took the board exam, 3,662 came out successful. Likewise, out of 4,067 girls who sat for the exam 3,998 came out with flying colours. In total, out of 7,957 students who took the examination, 7.660 students got through that made the district registering 96.27 percentage of passes.

While in the boy's category the pass percentage is 94.14 in the girls category it is 98.30 per cent. As many as 111 schools, including 51 government high schools, in Nilgiris have registered cent percent passes.

All the 186 girls who took the SSLC examination at St.Mary's Girls Higher Secondary School at Coonoor, passed the examination creating the record of highest number of students passing in a single school in Nilgiris.

Another unique record was cent percent passes in the government schools at Iduhatti and Kokalada villages, which is a unique record of sorts as one student in each of these schools who wrote the exam passed out, thus also accounting for cent percent pass in SSLC in the respective schools.
