Remya Haridas resigns as Block Panchayat president

She submitted her resignation letter to the block panchayat secretary V.K Jayaprakash on Monday.

Kozhikode: UDF candidate in Alathur, Remya Haridas has resigned from the post of Kunnamangalam Block Panchayat president. She submitted her resignation letter to the block panchayat secretary V.K Jayaprakash on Monday. “The resignati-on is for upholding morality in politics. I had asked the permission of Congress party to put in paper when I was selected as the candidate in Alathur. But the party replied that it would be considered after the poll,” Remya said.

Kunnamangalam block panchayat has 10 UDF members and 9 LDF. If Remya gets elected, she would automatically lose the presidentship as well as the member position which makes the tally nine each. To avoid it, she had resigned now itself so that, she would not lose the member position and can vote for Congress in the election to the new president post.
