Pollachi sex scam: CBI plans to issue summons to some political functionaries

Coimbatore: Taking over the Pollachi sex scam case from the state crime branch police, the CBI is getting down to serious business right away and has planned to issue summons to some political functionaries, sources said.

CBI-IG Viplav Kumar Choudhry, ADSP Kalaimani and Inspector Vijaya Vaishnavi arrived at Coimbatore on Sunday to take charge of the case and received the case files from the state crime branch CID officials.

Sources said among the first tasks before the CBI team is a visit to the farmhouse of main accused Thirunavukarasu to undertake fresh searches in the backdrop of an audio tape that has been doing the rounds in social media, which has an unknown woman alleging that a girl had died after excessive abuse by the gang and her body was buried in the backyard of the farmhouse.

Actually, the CB-CID had plans to visit the farmhouse to check it out but with the CBI taking over the case, the state police merely handed over the case to the Central agency along with all the relevant documents.

The CBI sleuths planned to question another accused, 'Bar' Nagaraj regarding another audio tape in social media that allegedly featured him threatening a woman, sources said.
