Nellore: Nomination successful only after third attempt

Speaking to this newspaper from Varanasi, Mr Sarma thanked Varanasi district magistrate Surendra Singh for his support.

Nellore: On their third attempt, office-bearers of the Veligonda Sadhana Samiti, Vadde Srinivasulu and Kollur Ravikiran Sarma of Botlagudur in Pamuru mandal of Prakasam district, managed to file their nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting, on the last day on Monday.

Their attempt to file nominations twice earlier turned futile after their proposers failed to answer poll officials’ questions over their acquaintance with the two candidates.

Speaking to this newspaper from Varanasi, Mr Sarma thanked Varanasi district magistrate Surendra Singh for his support. He said that their intention to file the nomination against Mr Modi was to highlight at the national level the fluoride problem and kidney ailments rampant in Prakasam district and need for completion of Veligonda project to supply potable water to the affected areas.

Mr Sarma said that Mr Singh had appreciated their cause.
