Namakkal up to third slot, Erode slips to fouth

In Erode district, out of 25,350 boys and girls who took the exam from 358 schools, 24,947 students passed out, sources said.

Salem/Namakkal: The 10th class state board exam results announced on Monday had a few surprises for the western districts which used to dominate the state ranks.

While Namakkal district remarkably improved to third position in terms of overall pass percentage from 19th rank last year, Erode district which stood state second last year has slipped to the fourth position in 2019. Salem district also slipped in its overall pass percentage position in SSLC from 19 in 2018 to 21st slot this year.

In Namakkal district, out of 21,472 boys and girls who took the exam, 21,139 passed out, registering a pass percentage of 98.45 per cent. This is 3.37 percentage points more than last year. Government schools in Namakkal district reported higher passes this year, improving by 5.63 percentage points.

In Salem district, out of a total of 44,333 students who took the exam from 532 schools, 42,336 students passed out, giving it an overall pass percentage of 95.50 per cent. More girls passed than boys this year, as has been the state-wide trend.

In Erode district, out of 25,350 boys and girls who took the exam from 358 schools, 24,947 students passed out, sources said.

The total pass percentage for the district is 98.41 per cent. As many as 250 schools in Erode district achieved 100 per cent passes this year.
