Kalpetta: Monkey fever has claimed the life of a man in Wayanad. The deceased is Suneesh (23) of Aathaattu Kunnu colony in Thirunelli. This is the second death in the district this year from the tick-borne viral haemorrhagic fever.
Suneesh was undergoing treatment at Mananthavady district hospital. He was staying at Bairakuppa in Karnataka for quite some time. According to district medical officer (DMO) Dr R. Renuka, six confirmed cases had been reported in the district so far. A health squad led by deputy DMO Dr Noona visited the colony and took precautionary measures.
Health classes and leaflets distribution were held.
