Kadapa: Collector inspects strongrooms

Already training programmes are being held for the staff to be deputed on counting.

Kadapa: Kadapa district collector C. Harikiran and joint collector Koteswara Rao inspected the strongrooms where the EVMs were kept safely, in the wake of warning on Cyclone Fani, on Monday afternoon.

The collector went around the strongrooms and checked if rain would cause damage to the EVMs. Both the officers signed in the book and entered the premises.

The collector said that EVMs of all the Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies had been kept separately at KLM Women’s Engineering College, under CCTV surveillance.

Already training programmes are being held for the staff to be deputed on counting. The ECI has given permission to all the political parties and aspirants to inspect the strongrooms thrice a day, he said.

Later, the collector inaugurated a swimming pool constructed on Kadapa municipal stadium premises on Monday morning.

The swimming pool was constructed at a cost of `78 lakh. Simultaneously, summer coaching camp in swimming was also begun for children.
