HC gives Konda Vishweshwar Reddy anticipatory bail in cop case
Hyderabad: Mr Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Congress candidate from the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, got relief on Monday in the Telangana High Court when Justice T. Amarnath Goud granted him anticipatory bail in an FIR lodged for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
While granting the anticipatory bail, the court directed Mr Vishweshwar Reddy to produce two sureties worth Rs 25,000 and cooperate with the investigating officer.
Describing the lodging of the case against Mr Reddy as a “cooked up complaint” due to political enmity on the ground that he had contested against the ruling party, his counsel D. Prakash Reddy informed the court that the complaint by the Banjara Hills sub-inspector alleging that Mr Vishweshwar Reddy had manhandled him, was false and baseless.
“A police officer can’t keep quiet if there is an attack against him and his staff, but here the complaint was given by the sub-inspector of police, two and a half hours after the alleged incident, clearly showing some manipulation,” counsel stated.
Mr Pratap Reddy, public prosecutor, on behalf of police informed the court that if anticipatory bail was granted to the petitioner, he may tamper with evidence, influence the witnesses and the complainant.
He said that a video clipping that was captured on a mobile phone clearly showed that Mr Vishweshwar Reddy had assaulted the officer and he brought a CD along with him saying that it will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory.
