Congress demands repolling

The Left leaders had been winning earlier elections through dubious means, including muscle power, he said.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that the CPM has lost the moral right to be in power following the fake vote scandal. He has demanded repolling in all the booths in Kasaragod where fake voting occurred. The Left has destroyed democratic process, he said.

The Left leaders had been winning earlier elections through dubious means, including muscle power, he said.

KPCC president Mullapally Ramach- andran claimed that the party’s moral stand was upheld by Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena’s announcement that fake votes had been cast. Mr Rajmohan Unnithan, Congress candidate in Kasaragod, said that N. K. Saleena, panchayat leader who cast fake vote in Pilathara, should be arrested and disqualified. Fake votes were cast in over 100 booths in the constituency, he alleged. "Kasaragod district collector has also been lax in his work. Despite the Election Commission getting convinced of fake votes, no action has been taken," he said.
