Coastal Andhra braces for Cyclone Fani
Vijayawada: Cyclone Fani lay less than 1,000 km from the south AP coast on Monday, amid indications that it could head towards the Odisha coast after May 1.
It is expected to bring light to moderate rain over south coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and on the Vizag cost on May 2. North coastal AP would experience very heavy rainfall from May 3.
Union cabinet secretary P.K. Sinha held a video conference with the chief secretaries of coastal states and the ministry of home affairs issued two back to back advisories on the impending natural calamity.
The Andhra Pradesh government directed the officials including collectors of all coastal districts to be alert and prepared to face the cyclonic situation.
Met officials said Telangana could expect a stiff breeze and some rain later in the wake under the impact of Cyclone Fani.
