3 from Telangana among top 10 JEE rankers

Shubani from national capital tops JEE Mains.

Hyderabad: Three Telangana students scored Top 10 All India ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination-Mains exam, the most from any state. Shubani Srivastava from Delhi was the top ranker in the results released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

State topper Battepati Karthikeya secured all-India fifth, followed by Adelly Sai Kiran from Siddipet at No. 7 and K. Vishwanth of Suryapet at No. 8. Karthikeya is from Nellore but took the exam in Hyderabad. Konda Renu from Andhra Pradesh was ranked ninth.

Aqua farmer B. Suresh Naidu, the father of Karthikeya, said his son was a bright student but never expected he would achieve such a high rank. “He always made our life easier with his skills, he even secured free education from Class 8.”

Sai Kiran is the son of government school teacher A. Dayanand and aims to do his computer science engineering from IIT-Mumbai. “Hard work always pays. I had dedicated a minimum of 13 hours a day to students and it worked,” he said.

Vishwant is the son of another government teacher, Mr K. Gurumurthy. “What more can I expect from my son? He is a silent warrior and a committed learner,” Mr Gurumurthy said. Vishwanth has set his eyes on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

All three toppers were from the Narayana group. Dr Sindhu Narayana, managing director said, "Despite of changes in the exam pattern, our students could crack it." She said the group had developed a feature called N-learning which trained the students in online mock tests daily.

The exams were conducted in January and April. For candidates who appeared in both tests, the best of two scores was counted. Out of 6,08,440 candidates who took both tests, 2,97,932 improved their performance.
