96% of registered administered vaccine in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: District medical and health officer Dr Sujatha said that 96.78 per cent of those who had registered had been administered the Covid-19 vaccination in Karimnagar district. Those above 60 years of age and those who are over 45 years old and have comorbid conditions are eligible to register.
From April 1, the vaccination has been thrown open for all persons above the age of 45. Dr Sujatha stated that 994 persons enrolled through the Co-Win 2.0 app of whom 962 were given the first dose.
As the second wave is prevalent in the district and the number of positive cases are increasing, especially in the neighbouring states, people should be cautious and must follow precautionary steps especially during festivals and fairs.
She said people should not be irresponsible and must not behave negligently. They should not think they will not contract the Coronavirus and must follow Covid-19 guidelines such as maintaining physical distance, wearing face masks, sanitizing hands and avoiding mass and huge gatherings.
Those who are suffering from Covid-19 symptoms must visit hospital and undergo testing. If the results is positive, they must follow doctors advice, Dr Sujatha said.
Meanwhile, as many as 15 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Budugajangala Colony of Jagtial town.
Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar accompanied by municipal chairperson Bhoga Shravani and health officials, Asha workers and sanitation staff visited the colony and supplied medicines to those who tested positive. They also took samples of primary contacts of the infected persons in the colony.
Dr Sanjay Kumar appealed to the people who crossed 45 years of age to take Covid-19 vaccination which is given in the government hospital and to take precautionary measures to prevent the second wave of Coronavirus in the district.
